Corsette had circled the little town three times now on her Charizard. It seemed quiet but it was hard to tell, especially with the possibility of zombie Pokemon, if it was safe or not. Well, to be fair, no where was really safe anymore. But the little town was far out enough that it was not over run, and, hopefully, had not been picked over yet. Little towns like these had been devastated quickly, and therefore were usually a goldmine for survivors. Finally, she decided to land. If she did not stop circling she was going to tire Eros out and she would need him to make a retreat.
Once they were on the ground she switched him out for her Luxray and her Houndoom. She hated having them out with her, they were as vulnerable as she was, after all, but they were also useful. They stayed close to her, scanning the area with their senses for anything dangerous. It was quiet, in that too quiet way that the world was now. She missed people, which was funny to her, because before she had been content to avoid most of them.
There was a blur of movement to her right, and she reached for her Honedge’s pokeball, but Loki pounced before she could. The hellhound Pokemon lifted his head, a limp Buneary in his jaws. Corsette relaxed as he padded over to her. “Good boy,” she murmured, rubbing his head absently as she took the dead Pokemon with her other hand.
Looks like they were eating well tonight.
Healthy Pokemon were usually a good sign, unless they were say, stampeding. Not that their presence meant a lack of zombies, by any means, but rather a lack of a large group of zombies at the very least. Corsette wrapped the Buneary quickly and slipped it into her pack to save for later. The kill had been a clean snap of the neck. Loki was a good listener and a fast learner. They had learned the hard way not to draw blood if they could avoid it. Zombies were like sharks in that sense. Blood was much easier to smell than their normal scent was.
Corsette shouldered her pack and headed for what looked like a Pokecenter. It was hard to tell in these small towns. The windows had been smashed in already, and the young woman wasn’t sure she would find anything useful but it would still pay to check. Corsette paused a few feet from the building, one hand resting on her Honedge’s pokeball, the other signalling to her Luxray to scan the building with his intensified vision.
All clear, came the quiet voice in her head, but she still picked her way into the building carefully and quietly. She set Loki at the front of the building to watch guard, while her and her Luxray looted the building. There was a lot of blood, which was unsurprising. Most of the sick patients had probably been flown out to larger cities for treatments, but there was still carnage from those who didn’t make it that far. Corsette had gotten used to it, in a way that would worry her when she was back at her base, as safe as one could hope to be, post apocalypse.
She had gotten lucky. Being the daughter of the head of one of the world’s most powerful organizations had paid off in more ways that she could have hoped. She had access to resources that most would have given their right arm for, even in a world this deadly. Not that she was sure any other humans were still alive besides her. She wasn’t even sure what had happened to her father. Corsette had been far away from headquarters when shit hit the fan, already estranged from her family and Team Rocket. She had meant to come back, but…
When she had realized the severity of the mess the world was facing, Corsette had taken shelter in one of Team Rocket’s secret bunkers, way out in the arctic. It was deep underground, with several layers of reinforced steel between her and the outside world. The bunker even had its own greenhouse. Turns out her father had been paranoid enough to secure some fall out shelters around the world in case of just such an emergency. For a long time she had waited for him to find her, but she had since given up on that.
It was lonely and far too quiet, but she had her Pokemon for company at least. And unlike most trainers she could hold conversations - real, not imagined - with them. It still got lonely and Corsette was constantly venturing to the outside world to collect supplies. And maybe, to look for other survivors as well.
She had picked locations well. It seemed the virus had hit the town fast and hard; there hadn’t been time for looting. Corsette filled a rescue bag full of medicines and strapped it onto to her Luxray. She grabbed a few other things she need, placing them in her own pack, before heading back outside where Loki was waiting anxiously. She once again patted his head distractedly before picking her way out and heading towards the nearest house.
She had her Luxray circle the home, scanning it with his vision. The electric lion suppressed his urge to growl as he found bad news. Corsette wandered over to him quietly and rested a hand in his mane to calm him. There are two, in there, he informed her, his tense muscles jumping under her fingers with the need to fight or flee. Humans, not Pokemon.
Corsette tapped her Honedge’s pokeball finally and the ghost Pokemon manifested in front of her. She took hold of its hilt and her Luxray took its sheath in its jaws carefully.
I will protect you, Princess, the living blade vowed, just as he always did when they were facing battle. Corsette was grateful for her companion, but it frustrated her that he had not evolved yet. She knew that he would grow into a Doublade. which, as the name suggested, would have been twice as useful to her.
Corsette steeled herself, no pun intended, and tried the door to the home. It was unlocked, as were most of the houses she came upon. The virus had been fast and caused a lot of panic. Not many people spared time to lock their doors. Killing the undead was always unpleasant, but she knew it had to be done. For her safety and so their bodies could rest at last. People and Pokemon weren’t meant to come back to life, not like this.
As silently as she could manage, Corsette let herself into the house. The Luxray’s voice whispered in her mind, telling her where to go. She found the first one and gripped her Honedge’s hilt with both hands before bringing him down and through the undead woman’s skull. The Honedge was sharp and sliced through the decomposing body and bones with ease. Corsette turned away as the portion of the once living woman’s head slid away from the rest of her, before the body finally crumpled to the ground. She was already following her Luxray’s directions to the next one but she knew the sound of flesh sloughing off a body would haunt her later that night.
Sometimes she went weeks without encountering a zombie. Mostly that was due in fact that she stayed in her bunker, trying not to go insane. Most days it was bearable. She had books and a TV she could watch movies and such on. She trained as if she was still a Team Rocket member. She had her Pokemon and her greenhouse to keep her busy. She cooked and cleaned and researched things like medicine. But some days the loneliness was too much. She couldn’t stand the white walls of her safe house. One day she had ventured out just to get paint to splatter on the walls. She had never been much of an artist, but she didn’t need murals on her wall. The mess of paint, dripping and horribly mismatched, relaxed her, at least for a while. But then even that got to be too much and she had spent a whole week painting everything a solid color, and each room a different color.

Adventure Log 3
The Poké Ball wobbles for a few seconds before it stops, the red circle turning white with a small click. ___ jumps for joy with Minccino. “I caught Spinda,” ___ cheers. “I can’t wait to do battle or perform with it~” “Cino cincino,” Minccino wonders. “I don’t know if Spinda is male or female,” ___ admits with a shrug. Minccino nods. She’s a female and so is Togepi. ___ then sees Minccino’s ears twitch. ___ looks to see the direction she’s looking and there is an- “Eevee,” ___ whispers. The Eevee peeps but then stays back. ___ didn’t want to force Eevee and taps her shoulder so Minccino can hop on. ___ sees that Eevee is still nervous but inching towards her. She will wait until Eevee is ready. ~*~ Shuichi hangs up from his call with Hikaru sighing. His friend really needs to be more careful. The poachers nearly had his Greninja had it not been for Water Shuriken slicing all the ropes. Thankfully a police detective was near to arrest them. The poachers had no chance and now… “The issue of forced compatibility is disgusting,” Shuichi grumbles as he goes to check on the Eggs. Being a Breeding Connoisseur has its advantages, though Shuichi will have to differ on that. His Togekiss was a hard one to breed, as with the rest of the team but Maractus. His Maractus is more of an old friend. Much like how Greninja was with Hikaru as a kid, Maractus is his. But that isn’t his main focus right now as he is still trying to breed certain Pokémon for the best results. Though it does make him sad when he has to send any of them to Luke’s clinic for a long-term stay. Mostly because he can’t maintain a decent environment for a healthy hatching should the egg’s health be terribly bad for what he has on hand. He can’t even keep some of them so he sends them to Chisato’s day care and the many volunteer-operated Pokémon houses. It’s not that he doesn’t like them but his small flat doesn’t have enough room for so many Pokémon outside of the small hatchery he has. “One too many,” he sighs while pushing his glasses up. “But I can’t expect anything less than perfect.” A nudge brings him back to the present and he realizes that it’s Togekiss. He may have been breed to perfection but his sister is the egg he had to give to Luke out of reluctance. “Where is your sister now,” Shuichi mumbles as he pets Tokekiss’ head. ~*~ Hikaru grumbles while getting closer to another city. The poachers didn’t recognize him as the champion which got him at an unreasonably high level pissed off. His Greninja isn’t that legendary but to have a bond strong enough that it can link them both together like an old story is enough to make him a target. Right now he needs a Nurse Joy and her assistant to help heal his team. He runs over the damage his Pokémon gain through the hassle. Sableye has a huge gash in his arm thanks to that Scizor’s cut. Greninja has low health. Roserade is suffering from bad burns. And Luxray got some serious gashes. “Low lifes… and still no answer,” he fumes. During his travels, Hikaru desperately seeks an answer. Shuichi tells him to stop but he can’t. He can’t until he finds it. Seeing his parents’ lifeless and bloodstained bodies at a young age… It was after Froakie evolved into Frogadier and Hikaru can still feel it. He looks at Greninja’s Poké Ball then tightens his grip on it. He knows that his old friend felt it at that point too. Both got the feeling of vengeance so strong that no matter what, even after becoming Champion, that they won’t give up until they found the answer to who killed his parents. /We will find them,/ Hikaru vows to himself. Little did he know the actual truth to their deaths had to deal with the previous Pokémon Hunter F… ~*~ Eisuke sets his phone down with a sigh. Despite rising profits, it is not enough to divert into funding a project into stopping Pokémon Hunter F. The call he just finish with was from one of the corporation’s branches where one of its worker’s Pokémon got kidnapped. It was a Growlithe… “I promised their parents,” he frowns, “not just as a business contract… that child doesn’t belong in someplace so harsh…” He makes another call and frowns but then turns neutral before ending it on his Pokétch. Eisuke isn’t that much a religious person but he makes a long silent prayer to whomever creation god there is to help his friend. When he ends it, he sighs again. The child and their Growlithe are both heirs to a mysterious area where Pokémon and their Trainers bond at a young age and create something amazing. The child’s Growlithe had intensive training in order to use Thunder Fang, a move typically used by its evolved form Arcanine. But it’s a tradition that has been passed from a generation to another as a way of showing that despite their size, it doesn’t matter when it comes to protecting those that matter. A concept that seems so alien to Eisuke but now… “I want to protect her,” he mutters. While they haven’t meet each other face to face, the calls are enough to make him feel closer to ___. He glances at Persian and chuckles. The small toy Minccino he’s snuggling is enough of a scene as it is. ~*~ Soryu makes a quick call to Mamoru before he relooks his hand picked team. The plan was to get the police near the hovercraft and the rendezvous point for the client, then the fight begins. He also reviews what Team Suzumushi send over to him a few weeks ago. He can’t help but frown. Pokémon Hunter F has a Garchomp that can Mega Evolve along with a Gangar that can do the same. He can’t default to Salamence at this point. He fingers Beartic’s and Dragonair’s Poké Balls from his position. They are his best bet at this point. While neither can Mega Evolve… wait a second. He then swaps Beartic’s for Glalie’s. Soryu feels a tad ridiculous for forgetting that some of Glalie’s moves are Dark Type, perfect against Mega Gangar. Despite that Dragonair isn’t a real Dragon Type, he believes that his old friend can do his best against Mega Garchomp. He looks around and sees Mamoru with a few other detectives and officers on standby. The man shows his Slowbronite as a signal then puts it away. This plan better work. Baba’s information isn’t wrong about this client. And right on cue, the client’s limo pulls up along with Pokémon Hunter F’s hovercraft. ~*~ “Tsk… this is a real pain,” Mamoru grumbles, studying the aftermath of the struggle. “At least the kid is gonna get their Growlithe back.” Burn marks, flattened flora, and nasty dents cover the area. He didn’t want to admit that Soryu and himself make a good team but he will give credit for the guy coming up with the plan he did. Mamoru understands that the police doesn’t have the best Pokémon to go against the Pokémon Hunter and his team so they go after the man who got the Growlithe through the Hunter. Despite that Pokémon Hunter F flees with marks of defeat, Mamoru has more information to put down about the per- no, man. He could hear it from when he was fighting with Hayami with the client’s Swellow and Braviary. The orders that the Mega Evolve Pokémon follow in battle was obviously male with no machines to alter his voice. Some of the henchmen also got handcuffs on and mention the words “he” and “his”. That is a real concern. As he surveys the scene again, Mamoru pulls a can from a bag and drinks it. Even though they weren’t able to capture anyone from Team KōriRyu, it is still a success. The client, despite being a wealthy man, has a bad history of avoiding debts and mistreatment of Pokémon. Those are enough to even put him behind bars. “Just what the hell are we gonna do about that asshole,” Mamoru mutters into his can. “Not even Soryu can stop the guy…” ~*~ Inside his room, F places his Poké Balls into a healing device frowning the whole time. Who can know enough about him to set up this elaborate trap to catch him? The only ones who know are a few of the Sakiko sisters but even then they don’t know where he is either. ___ has no idea. And neither does Chisato. Team KōriRyu has some level in order to battle him and his team. The police now know who he is. His bigger problem now is finding a new person. The previous one wasn’t a nice person when it comes to asking. He recalls that many parents got killed for refusing to give up their child. He can’t do that! Unless… it won’t be easy but he will send in one of his lesser known henchmen to an orphanage. It’s his best chance of getting a new Hunter. The only question is where?
Author’s Note: Sorry about the delay but i’m dealing with somethings that are nearly clashing horribly with the story writing... I can’t upload the drawings i’ve done of how i imagined the Key Stone holders to look. I will admit that when I colored them in, I messed up on what goes where... then I realized that it would be great since I can't even remember which Pokémon from who can Mega Evolve (especially when i’m worried about my stats class...). That aside, has anyone figured out who the main villain of the story is yet? I’ll give a big reveal in an adventure log later. Coming up: Where is our next adventure?
